Species reference: Elsae Ardu

This one is the cross of a demon and a bird species. It's been done before, but hey, might as well give my take on it.

Sure thing! As long as you contact me first with your idea and I approve of it, you can go ahead and create one of your own.

Can I use them in my original writing?
These are not intended to be used for writing specifically, but rather to be used as an OC. You can write about them, draw them, and RP with them, but I'd prefer if they didn't show up in any published writing.

Where do I find info on colours to use?
You can use Google or books to look up bird species, or you can use a species of your own for the wings. As for the other established colours, here are links: Horns | Skin | Hair. As for fur colours, don't go overboard with neon colours. Fur must be less saturated.

Can I make using a bird species that was already taken?
Of course! Be sure to make the design original, though.

History

When a demon father and a harpy mother could not create offspring, they started experimenting with both technology and magic to make their genes compatible with each other. It took the couple various attempts to create a form of life that wouldn't die during the fetal stage. 

After this child was successfully born and confirmed healthy, they started experimenting on other people's genes, with their own consent. Different types of demons were crossed with different types of bird people, creating all sorts of different types of demon-bird hybrids. 

The creatures were not liked, and they were often chased away from the cities, banning them to the wilds.


Appearance

These beasts are tall and slim creatures. On average, they surpass the 2 meter mark, but they are just thick enough to carry their wings on their back without a problem. The most prominent of their features are large wings, a set of horns, and a long, fluffy tail. The eyes are yellow orbs without a visible pupil and the mouth is slightly shaped to resemble a beak.

The hybrids are very colourful creatures. They have both areas of skin and of fur; the chest, arms, face, and lower legs are bare skin, the waist, upper legs, tail, and area around the neck are covered in fur. Their hands and feet have three digits/toes each. 

The skin will always be a type of red or orange, but the fur and the colour of the wings depend on the type of bird it was crossed with. A tropical bird species can create very colourful wings and less colourful fur, camouflaged birds will create a camouflaged set of wings and fur.


Behaviour

On average, the hybrids have a low IQ. They are sentient and can speak, but their intelligence is low. Most of them will use broken English ("Delaney wants to flies out!") but they can understand the language. They often have a high, beastly voice. Despite their intelligence, instinct is a factor in their behaviour as will.

These creatures are literal neat freaks. Their appearance is everything to them and they will spend quite some time grooming and washing. They are not bothered by their nudity and often won't wear any clothes other than accessories to enhance their appearance. 

This drive to look good is a reason they aren't too muscly or fat. They will eat what they need, and stop when they are full. To operate such a large and heavy body takes a lot of energy, leaving only a little to store away in the form of fat.
