Million dollar question: How can I improve next year? What are some points I need to work on? Your eyes are better than mine when it comes to that, so if you could tell me I'll be eternally grateful c:

I compared my works of August-October last year with my works of August-October this year and wow
I think I did it
I am finally starting to improve at a rate that I find acceptable
ALSO HOW HAS A FULL YEAR PASSED IT FEELS LIKE I DREW FAIRY QUENTIN'S PICTURE LAST MONTH

Last year

The Gayest Little Fairy by ElithianFox Q: Talents by ElithianFox
The new monster boys by ElithianFox

This year

Etisi Huntson by ElithianFox Rebel Assassin Thieves by ElithianFox

G: How to Train Your Eidolon by ElithianFox Aftermath by ElithianFox

I am so happy with these changes because I can visibly see the change and I don't like the artwork of last year that much anymore, which has to mean I have improved. Personally I can't wait until I am at a point where I no longer like Etisi's picture, because in my eyes that's one of the best things I have ever produced. But the faster I start disliking things about it, the quicker my improvement.

The biggest change seems to be lineart quality and shading technique. My lineart used to be pretty sloppy before I started paying attention to it and began correcting it afterwards. My lines have again become thinner than before too. My shading became more refined and went more into detail (thanks to Toasty-Marshmallow's technique I learned last month <3) but I feel like I've lost some sharpness it used to have last year. My shading style did become a mix between soft and hard shading ever since I started using the water tool. I got better at anatomy and my poses became slightly more dynamic again. Oh, and obviously I started using extra lighting in my pictures as well! Which, by the way, has improved a lot too since I first started using it.

My goals for the future are to become better at anatomy, to get dynamic poses, to learn how to draw expressions, and to finally learn how to draw those damned backgrounds I just can't nail. Plus get better at colour theory.

So! I can really use criticism in a situation like this. What do you think are my strong points? What do you think are my weak points I should work on? Has anything gotten worse since last year? Can you see me slip into some pattern that doesn't benefit my art? Let me know! I'll accept any and all criticism.

Hell YES you are girl! It has been SO darn cool to see the way things like your shading and confidence has changed in even the relatively short time I have had the privilege of knowing you! Not only that, but it has been so neat to see the way your characters change and evolve! AND DID I MENTION HOW FLATTERED I AM TO HAVE YOU MESS AROUND WITH MY SILLY WAYS OF ARTING?? I can hardly wait to see where your style and skill goes in the next year! If you keep pushing yourself the way you do you are going to go some serious places!!
